With six locations in the Southland area, you’re never too far from a Burke Williams Spa. The 14,000-square-footSanta Monica facility is the original location, opened a decade ago; Sherman Oaks is considered the glitziest. BW is known for their quality massage, though the signature treatments are imaginative, too. The most popular is the Hunter’s Retreat, which starts with an exfoliating granular scrub, is followed by cleansing with wheat stalks soaked in essential oils, all while cascades of warm water immerse the client’s body, which is then cleansed and bathed again. Afterward, light moisturizing oil is kneaded into the skin. BW also offers several types of herbal hydrobaths, an old-fashioned treatment with a modern twist. Following any treatment, clients are welcome to use the hot and cold whirlpools, quiet rooms, and steam and sauna rooms at no additional charge.
