Green Valley Spa and Tennis Resort is central to some of the country’s most dramatic vistas. As the name implies, tennis is big here. With a renowned tennis college, the 20 courts at Green Valley often become a destination in themselves. While some spa packages include tennis, a day on the court may exclude a day out in the dramatic, red rock wilderness of Zion National Park; it’s an opportunity cost you may not be willing to accept.
Hikes vary from just a few miles to seven or more. Some hikes are fast-paced, while others toddle along; pacing varies from 1 0 to 15-minute miles. A typical hike gains a modest 400 to 500 feet, but some of the more aggressive days will have you gaining up to 1 ,000 feet.
Fitness classes are widely varied and widely available. If you’re not on the trail, for example, you can take advantage of a morning stretch, or a yoga class. If you have hiked, afternoon offerings won’t leave you wanting. It could be a Reebok spin class, an aquatics class, cardio boxing, or perhaps T’ai Chi.
The menu in the dining room is as varied as the line-up in the gyms. Breakfast may include peach and yogurt-filled crepes, oatmeal, and fruit, while lunch could be low-fat turkey burgers with baked fries. Onion soup might start out dinner, followed by a Caesar salad, baked halibut and steamed vegetables. The food is healthy, and so too are the portions — second servings are always available.
